Core Exercises - Core Workout

We have a variety of core exercises to help you improve and strengthen these muscles. Many people think that your core is only your ab muscles, and do an extreme amount of sit-ups without getting results. In reality, your core muscles consist of your abdominals (abs), lower back, and hip muscles. When these muscles contract, they stabilize the spine, pelvis and shoulder girdle and create a solid base of support.

On the basketball floor, these muscles are some of the most important muscles on your body. They allow you to stay in a good defensive stance for the entire game. They also allow you to move quicker, run faster, and jump higher. Having a strong core also lets you sustain contact when you are hit by another player.

Another big plus of strengthening these muscles is that it reduces back pain. Your abs protect your lower back. In fact, it is weak and unbalanced ab muscles that are linked to low back pain. Stronger, balanced ab muscles help maintain appropriate posture and reduce strain on the spine.

So strengthening these muscles will help you improve your game. The exercises listed concentrate on the muscles of the torso, spine, hip and pelvis They are split up into two separate pages. Check them out below...
